Government tries to get ‘Barmy Beecroft’ deal with Cable

This is a report from today’s (November 7th) Financial Times. Anyone who thought the Beecroft report was buried – think again. This report is a further attack on employment rights and to suggest that rights to unfair dismissal would not apply to small companies is appalling pandering to the Arthur Daley fly by nights amongst bad employers.

Workers in small companies, many of them women and younger people are already excluded from trade union recognition rights. This would create a two tier workforce and would act as a disincentive to working at a small company when workers at larger employers would have better employment rights. It’s a pathway to workplace misery and a demoralised and less productive workforce.
